Contract to Hire Salary

I bet someone here has some info from past experience.

Currently making an hourly rate as a contractor that I'm comfortable with, and got a full time offer from the company. Salary offer is $7k less than the equivalent salary for the hourly rate, but with benefits, 401k, vacation, etc.

Is it typical to expect a bit less for a salary offer when switching from an hourly rate? Offer is in the ballpark of what I'm comfortable with, just was hoping for the equivalent to my hourly rate.

What say you the people here?

yeah expect less ... they're giving you full time commitment, benefits - you got no risk - in terms of having to find more work - that's why your hourly as a contractor is more - you're offsetting your risk of them not giving you lots of hours (or it should be) in my experience

they're taking up your self-employed tax plus vacations. Not to mention you'll have a consistent income. Sounds like a good trade-off to me.
