I've heard great things about the Sony RX-100 (it's in the same price range). Might not be as rugged as the G-Wagen, though.

RX-100 review - didn't bother to watch it myself :)

I own the G15 and love it. Have owned a couple of the G series' previous models so unless the G16 is a complete revamp, this below should still be valid :
You do see a good chunk of lense in the viewfinder when fully zoomed, but the viewfinder is useless, no information is displayed and when it comes to what you see vs what is captured it's not accurate at all.
Great cameras unless you absolutely want to use the viewfinder.
My only complain is that the mechanism that masks and protects the lense from dust and scratch when the camera is turned off is very fragile and doesn't really allow for you to just carry the camera in your pocket without a case. Fabric friction would most likely end up messing it up.

maybe they fixed this on G16, for the mechanism that mask the lense..
I need a viewfinder. I dont like at all shooting looking at a screen

I got it last year. I love it, the image quality is great. it feels good, not flimsy at all, It's tough but a bit hard to hold without pushing a button or two sometimes. i was always scared of dropping it, or just throwing it in my bag, then someone gifted me a case and it works great. gives an extra something to grip. it has some fun filters to play with like selective focusing which i love. not the real thing, but close.
i also love the bracketing dial right on top. it's a good/fun little camera for it's size.yea you can see the lens, but as long as it's not in the actual pic it's no big deal to me. i use the viewfinder all the time. especially outdoors in bright light, that's one of the main reasons i got this cam.
i also have the olympus epl-1 a micro four thirds, i got it approx 4 years ago. works when i don't want to carry around my 6D. it's a bit larger yet light enough to carry around with me. i got the digital viewfinder, cause again, those led screens in bright light, might as well just point and shoot and hope for the best. It's not flashy, good for incognito or traveling. the wide lens is awesome. but i don't like that it has a very hard time in low light.
that is where the G16 comes in handy. (i hate flash) it works well in low light. get it if what you need is a nice little camera to carry with you all the time. let me look for a few samples to post for you.my good looking case, i got the coffee brown. (:

Sea_sea, i jus bought it, the G16 :D
it will be my everyday cam to shoot here and there, I still have my pro kit with my Canon 60D and a few lenses for the serious stuff.

I owned a G7, G9 and G11. They are a great utility camera. All of these cameras are just meh. Without a depth of field it just lacks a little something IMHO.

thats cool sea_sea. I still testing it and exploring the settings. I really like it yet. For an everyday cam, it feels tough and its pretty featherlight compared to a huge DSLR. I think i will like it!
