- Yeah I carry one of these. Bought it off a farmer for $20, probably 15 years ago. It’s starting to dienb

- I've seen this guy's stuff before, and I will freely admit I can't watch them because nobody deserves to be so happy.garbage
- Yeah I'm salty, but this dude has never had a bad day in his life. He doesn't have to lord it over us normal folk.garbage
- hah. i always think he looks like he's on the verge of a mental breakdown. his vids can be hit or miss but thought this was really impressive.kingsteven
- I watched this early today, good stuff.utopian
- I'll give it a go. I think the "insanely happy to the verge of a mental breakdown" goes to styropyro, that kid that does the lasers.garbage
- https://www.youtube.…garbage
- He's happy as hell, but you're thankful because otherwise he'd be using his powers for evil.garbage
- Amazing the amount of clarity he got through that old lens and massive diy setup. Good stuff!aliastime
- This is why I stick around this place. Thanks Steve!toemaas

Is there something going on with Kodak stocks that I'm not aware of?
I tried to order a couple of rolls each of Etkar 100 and Portra 160 from two of the big camera shops here in Munich. Out of stock in both places, and not expected back in stock for another 3 to 6 *months* in both cases.
Wtf?
- *EktarContinuity
- Don't quote me on this because I could be wrong, but the group that bought them out after their bankruptcy in the early aughts..garbage
- ..Sino Promise. They bought the chemistry and paper rights and whatnot, not the film rights. But they announced last year that there might be a slowdown.garbage
- https://petapixel.co…garbage
- Which probably triggered a slowdown in film production. It's so absurdly high-priced that I can't think of a reasonable explanation to keep shooting film.garbage
- I personally have maybe 40 rolls of shot and undeveloped film, and loads of unshot stored Ektar and Portra, lots of Ilford stock.garbage
- I wish I'd done the same, because wow ... 3-6 months wait time? Forget it.Continuity
- It's really just not worth it anymore unless you're shooting large format or just really enjoy dark room time (who does?).garbage
- So good news on the small manufacturer front, though:
https://www.amateurp…Continuity - One of my old professors, who was a film purist, once quipped "You know film is actually dead when Ilford makes a disposable camera".garbage
- Ha!Continuity
- Depending on your digital setup, I can point you towards either in-camera or LR Ektar results. Ol' Ek was my fave back in the day.garbage
- Interestingly, I've been using Jamie Windsor's LR film emulation presets, and they're very good. In-camera will be interesting for me when IContinuity
- ... finally get that Canon R + FD lens adapter I've been wanting, probably in Q1.Continuity
- Love Ek, too, but my soft spot is for Portra 160. Such a delightful stock.Continuity
- Having said that, I still have two rolls of Portra 400 that need to be shot. I've never used it before, so I'll be curious to see the results.Continuity
- There is still stock in NYC so maybe this is more of a shipping logistics problem in Germany?nb
- Oh, Portra 400 5-packs are back ordered, but 160 is availablenb
- Anyway, this happened earlier during the pandemic, there was a huge back order, so I ordered a bunch and it eventually came. 6 months is not as long it seemsnb

- I've been eyeing this one for a while.garbage
- Ah nice!PhanLo
- I found a used one for cheap but passed. I actually passed on the 7artisans he mentioned here and got the equivalent Meike lens.garbage
- It's ok if you know what you're doing manually, but I've kind of fallen for Fuji X glass. Cheers on the channel, never seen it before.garbage
- Yeah, I hadn't seen it either, subscribed too :-)PhanLo

- Desperate last gasp to keep selling filmstocks to the Urban Outfitter crowd. Film is dead yo.garbage
- If absolute and total uselessness becomes a trend, I have a Minox B with full accessories, original paperwork and case to sell to some moron kid.garbage
- lol, just saw that Holga remakes are selling for up to $70. I remember getting a lot of them off ebay for pennies..garbage
- ..and we would microwave them to warp the lenses, and then throw them away when we were done.garbage
- call these 20 year olds wearing flares and 90's grunge jumpers = a whole new market to sell lomography to.shapesalad

- For sure. I still have my actual soviet LCA from when I was young. And a crate of old, unsold Polaroid cameras.garbage
- Gonna sound very "get off my lawn", but $20 for 8 shots is fucking stupid. I shot Polaroids because they were the easiest thing to steal at Ritz Camera.garbage

- Lens in a brown plastic bag shot wide open. Or PS.garbage
- vaseline on lenseuan
- or on a clear filter to make cleaning easier and protect the lensuan
- Yeah don’t put Vaseline directly on a lens, it will never come offnb
- Try: one sharp photo and a few at varying amounts out of focus (at least one or two VERY out of focus) then drop in PS and adjust layer opacity to tastenb
- Try blending modes too on those blur layersnb
- This does look like Vaseline or a very old (broken?) lens. Look at that chromatic aberration. It’s off the chartsnb
- A shot in the dark but based on the overall aspect it looks to me that this could have been shot through glasses, possibly tinted and broken ones.spl33nidoru

I dont have any camera right now and iam hesitating between
Fuji XT30 MII
Fuji XE4
Nikon Z50
Sony a6400wich one should i get and why? :-o
- Depends what you want to do with it. Looking at the list, I'm going to assume small, easy to carry, maybe for travel or candid/street photos?monNom
- Fuji is probably the better pick for that. Though I'd also check out Canon M6 ii. It's nice to use and compact both in body and lenses.monNom
- For candid/travel I highly recommend a case like this: https://www.amazon.c…monNom
- When buttoned up you can bang your camera around without much worry, but you are always only a snap button and a flick of the wrist away from getting the shot.monNom
- Fuji XE series is great. small. fast. image quality is fantastic too. lots of inexpensive and expensive lenses to usefuturefood
- I used every XE except the XE4. then I upgraded to another camera systemfuturefood
- But if I was looking to buy an APS-C camera XE4 would be my first choice based on vids I've seenfuturefood
- Fuji has the most beautiful rendering or light and color. Nikon overall best technical image quality. Sony if you’re normcorenb
- thanks for the comments!Bennn
- Any Fuji X100 series you can find...grafician
- Among these, Fuji all the way. Beautiful inexpensive compact lenses and great sensor. XE-4 shouldn't disappoint.spl33nidoru
- Go with the Sony and get into adapting vintage lenses on it.ok_not_ok
- Agree Fuji all the way_niko
- I'm looking into going fuji as well. Wins in street and low light for me.sea_sea

- Oh neat it’s 3dscarabin
- How do you 3D it?Hayzilla

He has the voice of a 30 year old man.utopian - You need (at least) 3 things to be a good photographer:
1. Concept
2. Timing
3. Good lightgrafician - also learning photography history = learning about people who knew shit about photography history and did it their own waygrafician
- This is really good advice and also really basic advice. Young photographers should listen closelynb

- The problem is it'll just be photogs look at other photogs. IG was a success because it was so many reg people and photogs could reach them.formed

- @formed yeah, that was the idea with Instagram. Not our fault billions stormed the platform to look at dumb influencers and modelsgrafician
- The only dumb idea with this - for now - it's they ask for Apple ID to create a new account, no email and android support for nowgrafician
- Will probably end up like VSCOgrafician
