You have to be more specific about what "old" means.
"Fairy tale books and mythology" sounds like you're talking about hundred of years old and may be hard to attribute to an artist. Most likely safe and public domain.
Disney and Marvel are an obvious no-no. They vigorously maintain and defend their copyrighted works.

And B2D yeah I was thinking of the original books of which say Disney may own the film rights to? i.e Mary Poppins (being that I'm in the UK allow me to keep the stereotype for you) was around before Disney made it into a film wasn't it? so illustrations from the original book might be ok or would Disney have brought the full rights?
