Just bought this one, based on the recommendations from the video above. I got some other ones too, but that one looks like it could be the most fun. Excited to try it out!

if you're using pencil or a thin pen, i usually use a lot of tracing paper and layer it up, continuing to refine everything i can before i scan it in one layer at a time.
if i'm using a brush, it's always about the word and playing with how the brush works with the letters—always thinking about varying the strokes, or not. playing with different brushes, different ways of holding it, &c.
sometimes it's about finding some great type and following the aesthetic. i always like the hand-painted work trucks or signage.
learn to write some chinese characters, helps with brush control & technique. also painting things in one color, good practice for using the brush and how the bristles respond to different angles & pressures.
