Hello,
I'm doing some research and wondering how people feel about their power and/or gas companies website. What do you love about it? What do you hate? Is it easy to pay our bill or a challenge to be overcome?

I say this with the sincerest honesty.
Nobody visits their power/gas company websites unless it's to pay a bill, and that's only if they haven't paid via mail, auto-debit, phone or via their bank already.
That being said, I hate the ConEd site. It makes me miserable just seeing it, and I would avoid it like the plague. It's the antithesis of friendly or useful. www.coned.com

I was just at a power company convention for a photo job, there was a lot of talk about how social media is more how power companies communicate with people, AND the most likely 2 cases they have to communicate are:
1. to alert people to phishing attempts that look like bills from them, but are actually scams
2. dealing with outages and emergencies

I just used one to sign up in new house.

Like about it:
• The consumption data is well presented. I can drill down to specific days to see consumption on a daily basis and see how I rank to other homes in my neighbourhood.
• I can get pretty accurate billing information based on usage
• Showing my how much my bill is and when I have to pay it by as a pervasive element within the dashboard.
• DIN webfont
Don't Like:
• The secondary/tertiary navigation when logged in isn't consistent with the main site layout
• Lack of unified layout for my dashboard pages
• The grid is all over the place logged in vs main siteNot so much a power company but might want to take a look at https://www.myenergy.com/ if you are in the US. It scrapes the consumption data from gas/electricity.
