Embracing fear is an adrenaline rush and ultimately good for your psyche. I used to hate heights for the sense of vertigo, now I enjoy that feeling of uncertainty. As far as public speaking... preparededness goes a long way. All this stuff about visualizing the crowd naked or having an object to focus on is second to confidence in one's material. I sincerely can not imagine living in a world imprisoned by my own fears. Is sooner die confronting them then exist inside
- ... I'd sooner die than exist in a shell of the person afraid to become myself.albums

My fear is effecting my daily life where I have to avoid them. It's effecting my career and quality of life. I have the motivation and wish it was as simple as follow step 1, 2, 3 and you're fixed. Working with a therapist but not sure if he will be effective.

OP you're already on your way to beating this, asking others is a clear example of that, so I say kick ass! I've talked to people of every generation about social anxiety and depression. What I've found is that at a certain point, you just have to say fuck this shit and do things, instead of thinking about things.
You're a thoughtful person that considers others before yourself, an undervalued trait but also part of the reason you have this current bump in the road. Maybe go to a museum or city/town square where you can people-watch. They're all just as flawed.

Nearly died a few times. The most intense was close to drowning with three friends in a river. Not recommended, adrenaline high or not.
Though day by day it's the fear in the fact that time is slipping. Also doing work that all my friends, family and peers see... Judged. Not like I can slip things under the radar.

Fear of open water and sharks, went to a small island in borneo snorkeling.(sipadan)
Swim with sharks and barracudas and sea snakes in open water, nothing happened, but never again.
Even getting there on a tiny boat, facing agitated sea with big waves was a trauma.
Climax was reached when we had to face a tropical storm a 5 in the morning to go see the sharks.
Still fearing this.

I found that my fears self-perpetuate the situations to happen. Eg if you're scared of social rejection, you see anything as an example of it and beat yourself up for it. I found the best is to remember that everyone else may be putting a brave face on but ultimately we're all going through the same thing. Surrounding yourself with good people who can listen helps. Although more difficult for men to talk than women I guess. Everyone is insecure in one way or the other and you just need to push yourself and be kind. Good luck. x

this is a good read. i despise self-help shit, but sometimes everyone needs motivation and/or a reality check.

you can spend a lifetime wondering if you should or just spend a moment taking the chance.
