I need to get a little laptop for my kids so they can do their homework and go online.
I'm in PC world right now and the Chromebooks look pretty good and nice and cheap.
I need some help cos I've always been a mac freak.

For MS Word and Chrome, anything should be fine. I think Chromebook is pretty easy to use and reliable.

why not just buy a samsung laptop, or acer, or hp? they make the chromebooks. there are even cheaper dells, etc. what about the chromebook makes it appealing? I see it as google testing the waters with hardware as they did phones. The chrome os also limits what software you'll be able to use if it's not a google product.

I agree with albums, also it might be more useful for them to learn Windows or iOS since it is widely used.

Pros:
- You can get some that take sim cards meaning it can always be online
- Its pretty cheap
- It runs smooth and has Google Docs etc for Word files etc
- You can save files on both the hard drive or your Google DriveCons:
- It feels cheap
- You can't install other programs on it, i.e Office etc on the Google OS
- There is not much in terms of hard drive spaceBut if its for your kids or light browsing etc, its perfect.
- I think you can install certain apps via the Chrome store, so prob some basic games for them etcsem

^ whats really bad are her acting skills, I don't know why they wasted their time with such ill-informed paranoia pushing...maybe Apple paid them to do it?
Can use it offline & google docs opens/edits all office files.
As for Google tracking your info, no less than Facebook etc...plus I doubt his kids are going to be looking at anything dodgy anyway?Offline info:
https://support.google.com/chrom…- highly doubt apple would pay them to do thismonospaced
- turns out it's Microsoft who created "scroogled" and it's their campaign and them who paid for this shitmonospaced

Thinking about this one for my 13 y/o daughter. Does it really matter the brand?
