Sony, B&O and Apple for actually labouring over design -- right down to the layout and colour used in internal electronics. There's something about knowing it has all been "designed" inside and out that psychologically feels right.
Teenage Engineering and AIAIAI. Maybe not "brands" but they have both have an incredible style.
Muji. Love the minimal and thoughtful approach to their products and brand. Their clothes kind of suck though.
Nintendo. Always been a fan. Hopefully they climb out of the funk they are in though.

- $30 for a molded rubber case that probably cost 20 cents to make. Fuckt this company.iCanHazQBN
- They seem cool and smart, but their stuff also seems over-designed. Ugly backpacks too.doggydoggdog

My favorite brands are all found at the 99 cent store.

I admire Apple for their relentless pursuit of perfection (sorry, I don't see any innovation there, never did). Their attention to detail is what a company should strive for. Mostly, I admire them for making so much money off of design and quality in an insanely competitive market (vs. something like Bentley making money off of a name/exclusivity)
Nike, with the exception of their Lunar Flyknit (still trying to love it, but its given me blisters when I go over 3 miles...not acceptable in a $200 shoe)

I admire Durex. They've kept me and my life blissfully brat-free for 23 years.

VANS is a great example for me. Wearing them right now, have worn them for years. Have several pairs. I guess I am a loyal follower of the brand.
BURTON is another great example. I have three current boards and have a few holy grails as well like the '90 Mystery AIR ketchup and mustard hanging on my wall. Like a shrine I guess.
An yeah APPLE. My first one in like '90 was a 6100/60 and since then have evolved nerding skills over the years on Macs. And will continue to do so because they'rrrre great!
- Not a brand comment.. but I had a 6100/60. Loved that little pizza box case.Josev

utopian, i think you're bipolar. you have 3 posts in this thread, one saying that all brands use cheap chinese labor, one saying you used to admire apple and one saying that there may be no brands worth admiration. While everything you say may be true, all I was asking is if you admire a brand and why. Anyways, i still like your weird posts. Just wanted to point that out.
eoin, i like you levi's thought. Seems to me like they have not really had any new technologies in their product yet they continue to market the hell out of it and do (what seems) well.

Are there any 'brands' worth our devote admiration?

Actually, I like Camper shoes, and Apple, and Levi's Made & Crafted, and Helly Hansen, and Moleskin, and Campbell's Perfect Tea, and Linn ... but really I'm talking about the product rather than the brand, which probably belies a little of the smoke and mirrors aspect of branding. The product is far more important, to some. Sorry, I know you asked about brands. But what is there to admire about a brand without the product it stands for?

I once admired Apple when they were the underdog!
Apple once designed and built innovation, it seems so long ago...- not really, they just copied everyone and made it shiny and expensive and for kidsmonospaced
