I have a banner that exceed the 40 kb standard weight. My adv provider suggested me to use a "loader" and lighter banner that calls the heavy one installed on my server (using var external_movie_url). But I don't know in which of the two banner i have to put the clicktag (i don't even know if i have to use it instead of a simple getURL)

The media people should supply you with the clicktag details they require. The clicktag should go on whichever banner is first shown or used.

Always on first main one, top layer. Load the other swf on lower layer holder.

Yes. Use the parent movie. At the very least, if there's a click before the second movie loads, you'll get the clickthrough.

use _root.clickTag anywhere you want (in the initial banner or "polite load" SWF). It'll be referencing the same clickTag variable. You would code the button as you normally do, use getURL, etc (doesn't matter which SWF either). _root will always be level 0 (unless you specify the lockroot property). This is standard practice to use _root.clickTag anyway, rather than just clickTag.

here the code they provided me:

That uses clickTag too. Same exact code you're using in the initial banner. Don't hardcode the URL in getURL, that defeats the purpose of clicktag. That's odd that they're making getURL's target window dynamic (i.e. they're using _root.target), but use that if they're specifying it.
Also, that loader code is overkill.
Just put a blank movieclip on the stage, call it loader_mc.
Then just add the following code in a keyframe when you want the movie to load 9likely the first frame) >
loader_mc.loadMovie("secondSWFNa...- loader_mc.loadMovie(
"swfName.swf"); Sorry, got the ellipses in my post.fyoucher1
- loader_mc.loadMovie(

Polite load a standard ad? That's not going to work. You need to trim down the ad.

don't forget your crossdomain.xml file on your server:
