i was really hoping the new Macbook pros would have some kind of upgrade in the graphics card department.. .but if anything it looks like its going to be a downgrade. For the first time in a long time i'm considering a PC so i have a machine that can handle all this stuff. It saddens me.
- they haven't updated the MPBs in well over a year, so there's a possibility they will upgrademonospaced
- yeah.. but everything i've read is that they're going to get rid of the DGPU and just use intel Iris discrete graphicsbogue
- which doesn't have any CUDA support.bogue

I deal with ~4k all the time... you'll have to upgrade to a tower and invest in an NVIDIA CUDA card (realtime playback in premier, AE, Resolve etc.). iMac wont cut it. OR wait for the new mac pro's and see what they're all about in a couple months. best of luck

yeah i fear the rest of my workflow might fail me here..
the imac i use handles 1080 ok, but i am guessing it will choke

ok.. i'll stop after this. Don't dick around with the KomputerBay 1000x CF Cards. They fail almost universally.. if not immediately than after a few uses. There is a reason they are half the price of any other CF card on the market. I ended up going with the lexar 1000x 128GB and its been flawless so far.
You can only get about 25 minutes of footage on one 128GB card. which is crazy to me.

Also of note is that Adobe will be releasing an update to Premiere on October 15th that will add native support for Cinema DNG files. This will give us a round trip workflow from Premiere to Davinci (or AE) and back again working directly with the raw files the entire time. We'll just need a computer powerful enough to make it happen.

How much chee$e will this set me back?

I've got it up and running and used it on a professional gig last week. Get ready to buy a shitload of storage and the fastest CF cards money can buy.
