Asset organization

  I was wondering if some people had examples of ways in which they organize assets in a large complex project (ie multipage website, wayfinding project or exhibition design).

  I'm trying to assess a new way of organizing info for a large group of people that makes discussing broad sections or finite details without saying "you know that image with the cat" or 'the red graphic" where there are many images of cats and red graphics.

  not sure if there is a proper name/phrase for this but trying google makes it difficult.
