What'd you guys end up going with?

Heroku is more than a hosting, it's a platform as a service.
I prefer to host my sites on Linode and set up everything myself.

IMHO Heroku's tech is cool, but way too pricey for smallish web apps / sites. Build it, scale when you need to.
I've not gone the Heroku route yet and I'd say I'm a fairly experienced RoR dev.
My $0.02

It's pretty well explained on their site.

Not a RoR Dev but the sound of little to no system admin is nice.

I'm having a RoR web application developed at the moment. The developers are suggesting using Heroku...but the whole concept is slightly confusing. I'm just not sure about the pricing model...mention Dynos to me and my eyes starting rolling to the back of my head.
Anyone have a simple explanation as to how it works?
