    Hi all,

I do some work for a company who attempt to create nice looking reports themselves, they look terrible. They have a marketing guy doing stuff in Pages, who passes it to director who is working in Word, along the way it falls apart.

I am looking into ideas for improving the whole process. Just wondered if this might work:

    1) Create a design in Indesign
    2) Have them update content via a text file that Indesign reads.

I haven't used Indesign this way but I am sure there are ways to make dynamic text. I may also need dynamic reports.

    Anyway, anyone got any ideas?

It's called defining and using brand guidelines and templates. You said you owned your own studio in another thread, right?

I get brand guidelines, this is just a report that they need to populate themselves.

The solution I am going to propose, after I have looked into it more is as follows:

    1) I design a report template for them in Indesign.
    2) We use live data (if this exists) that pulls in the raw content.

That way they can work outside of the indesign file, Indesign then pulls in the content.

    • This "solution" still requires paying someone who uses InDesign. It's useless to the company.monospaced
    • You're then generating multiple versions of Word files, InDesign files, and then PDFsmonospaced
