Heading over to New York in the near future and i'm looking for things to see and do in addition to the normal touristy stuff.
This can include shops / eateries / bars (although we wont be on the lash) / markets / parks / shows / Galleries / exhibitions etc
I'll be there with the wife so some girly things-to-do are also of interest to keep her happy :P
Suggestions in this post would be great
OR
I've setup a map of "NY - QBN Suggestions" on a new app called PLOTTER where you can plot points of interest. Here's the link:
http://plotterma.ps/3714(You can sign-in via Facebook but don't worry, it doesn't add us as friends or anything :P)
Actually REALLY impressed with this app. It is missing a couple of little features though - i've already mailed the developers telling them haha.

Added a bunch of stuff to the map.

When exactly is "the near future?" Might be able to give better/more accurate event info.

August.
Cheers for all the suggestions so far - 32!
I'll keep the map public and in the "Map Room" they offer in the app so other people can find the map. It's good PR for QBN too ;)Keep em' coming!

Thinks to do in NY? Good luck with that.

you could wait for the subway

You could stand in a huge crowd inside Grand Central Terminal and watch dudes dance on a dirty filthy disgusting floor while local commuters angrily shove past you and wonder why the fuck you would watch such untalented performances in the first place.

This looks nice: Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes
http://www.moma.org/visit/calend…Also, Highline is nice - crowded as a mofo but cool to walk. Chelsea galleries below - some have nice shows - some will piss you off, but art is a feeling so just go with it : )

Go eat at Casa Mono. I'm not recommending it because of its name, but because it's a great restaurant (Basque style tapas), and it's near Union Square.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far everyone!
If you decide to get the app yourselves http://www.plotterapp.com/ then go into the Map Room and search QBN. The list will be in there.
"NY - QBN.com Suggestions"So far there's 41 suggestions of places to visit.
Hopefully more suggestions are added over time. I'll keep the list available to Public.

To answer Pango's question about why the dis on Jersey. (The comment box has way too low a character limit for this)
For me it's the following
Tried to steal every NY sports team, statue of liberty and ellis island (as if immigrants ever came here to go to jersey) meanwhile professing state pride for their own uniqueness. Then, the only team they didn't steal as far as I know is named the DevilsThe smell
There are stereotypes associated with bridge and tunnel folks that just apply much more to Jerseyites. Reality shows don't help that stereotype.
Amazingly awful driving.
The buses are awful. The PATH is ok during the day but on the weekend, double the travel time, no exaggeration.
Bon Jovi
Sorry, Springsteen needs to shut up too.

I was just in NY. I had to stay with my cousins in Jersey. Such a pain in the ass to get out to the Jersey burbs after a night of drinking in the city.

Check out http://gothamist.com when you're closer to your trip. It always has a great collection of things going on and it's more local so it'll be relevant to your interests.

Hit up the bars on the Hudson River during the summer.
Frying Pan – Old ship converted to a bar/restaurant
Boat Basin – Bar under the West Side Highway- I haven't been to the Frying Pan in years - didn't know it was still around. Good fun.duckseason
- frying pan is fun. trailer park is close by and good too, 23rd & 7th?doesnotexist
- The Frying Pan is a good one. The Hudson River bike trail has a lot of good spots. Check out Little Island for great photo ops.CyBrainX

I hit up a bunch of spots last weekend, but Le bain was one of the better places. Sweet view and some chicks in a hot tub.
