Jesus. XBox one will rely upon 300,000 servers for online functionality - apparently the equivalent sum of the entire world's computing power in 1999.
- "lets burn the ozone"pablo28
- yeah, there's that.
Well, not so much the ozone as the atmospheric carbon balancedetritus - they're comparing their shit to tech from the 90s?scarabin
- No, the server infrastructure.detritus
- And to ALL of the power in the nineties - supercomputers and everything included, presumably.detritus
- You mean back when we drooled over math co-processors and 66-100 mhz processors? :)ETM

I think Microsoft just won.
Everything.

Exclusive television content... Halo... Spielberg... could be 'magic'.

Call of Duty? No Way!
- ernexbcn0
Only fucking Call of Duty is what we are going to see from the event...

Who the hell plays the campaign in Call of Duty?
- bored2death0
dogs are hot in video games this year.
- ernexbcn0
Bah.

I have to give microsoft credit, at least they showed it right out of the gate. Unlike Sony.
- Sony played it strategically by waiting to see Microsoft's form factor. PS$ is either moving forward or getting a hasty redesignjonny_quest_lives

I think the 'whole package' and online functionality might give MS the edge this time around - thing is though, as a PC gamer, there was utterly nothing amazing about the graphic proposition.
- "blah blah but PCs cost 20x as much" I know, but the point remains - there's nothing wow-worthy in consoles.detritus

The problem they all have is the next-gen overlap. There are huge games coming out for the current gen and the studios haven't dedicated time to these new consoles.
So a lot of games are coming out this year that run on the old consoles. What's the point of buying the new one at launch other than exclusive games for them?

Exclusive 1st look Wired:
- "The humplike battery pack on the controller’s underside is all but gone;"CygnusZero4
- All but gone. So that means it isnt gone?CygnusZero4
- The hump is gone, the battery pack is not... my interpretation.ETM

New kinect combined with illumiroom could make for some pretty cool experiences.
- Illumiroom isnt even for xbox. It was just some test they did.CygnusZero4
- And what do you think they are testing it for, exactly? Kick ass spreadsheets?ETM
- In fact, speculation was that they would discuss it today, but they may be waiting for E3.ETM
