It's an experience that you can't have from a 72dpi image.
Or so I hope that's the case.

One of the subjects of my doc is a blind photographer. Some art museums in Europe (maybe in US too) have programs where they take the blind on a guided tour. Because the blind obviously can't see the work it needs to be described to them - you get 2 describers who keep each other in check so that the description doesn't end up too personal.
When we filmed we "saw" 2 paintings:
Picasso's "Harlequin"
http://www.flickr.com/photos/330…And Klein's "Blue":
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ste…Both descriptions took about 30-45 min. Yes, 45min to describe a blue square.
At the end, the blind photographer said how much more rewarding the "Blue" painting was because of the necessary poetry required to really describe it.
We live in times of appearances (falseness of first impressions) and yet don't take the time to really think through what we are looking at. If you think you are just looking at large blue canvas with a stripe you might be missing out on something.
BTW, here is more about the doc:

It's purely investment speculators. No different than gold or crude oil.

could've done a better job taping that middle stripe.
could've would've
It's not like the dude who bought it did so because he's going to hang it on the wall of his Manhattan loft. Pretty sure the canvas will go straight to storage, in it's original Gander & white packaging. Shit's going to get flipped next year for even more. Art = Commodity
