I'm rebranding myself. I'm working as a freelance UI designer focused on startups. I used my name as my domain so far, but I want to look a little more company like. There's also an upcoming conference that I'm attending as a sponsor and I want to show up as a brand rather than my name.
So naming process is getting harder because
- It's hard to find a meaningful domain name
- It's hard to create an abstract name like google or yahoo.Do you have any useful process for finding a unique name?
I tried a word mashup tool http://www.panabee.com but it's not that effective. Do you guys know any similar tools, ideas?

Whenever a freelancer comes up with some conceptual name and logo, to me it just looks more amateur and less like a professional business. You are the product; keep using your name, in my opinion.
- I'm thinking about changing into a more structured company and employing people.Beeswax
- Yeah, don't use your name. I'm running into that issue now. You'll establish urself, then ur stuck looking like a "freelancer"fyoucher1

My name is X but my domain is Y. I also have my name (X) as a domain, but the main domain is the business name (Y) which involves my work and the assistance of other digital professionals I contract.

just add a '& Company' to your name.

Think of words that evoke a certain image you want to project. Now misspell them.

Superhero for 24 hours method. This works!!! Many people have tried this method and have achieved great success.
1. Think of your favorite animal, or the strongest thing in the world, or something you admire, then put the word "Man" at the end. You may put "Woman" at the end if so desired. What did you come up with?
2. Now with a fat marker, put the first letter of this word on a sheet of paper and tape it to your chest. If you want, you can stylize this with color and fancy typography to make it meaningful, and noticable.
3. Walk around in public with this paper attached to your chest. You can hide this identity under your jacket or another shirt til you are ready to let the world know who you are. But you must wear it for at least 24 hours.
4. Imagine this character taking over, and do things this character would do in real life. Interact with people and perform superhero like actions. If your character needs to carry a weapon, like a shield, hammer, or rope, then carry it as if normal.
By the end of 24 hours you will find a name for your company, powered by your own superhero identity. Repeat process if necessary for up to three times. No more than once a week til you find your name.

This is simple. Just use your name and put 'Studio' after it. This will present yourself (as a freelancer) as established, and also allows for becoming a company (with employees) afterwards.

^^^
Want to go for the more poncy option? Instead of adding 'Studio' after your name, use 'Atelier' before your name.
