i actually agree with the op, however not so much the cited examples, or putting the blame on technology itself but rather the seller of that technology.
i think the issue is when a company has gotten so big and they focus on profits rather than their customers they may not pay that extra attention to the user experience.
in the end you have:
a social platform that works but cumbersome and counter-intuitive privacy settings
weak css cross browser compatibility (and the multiple required html 5 video encodings for html5 video)
losing your session at the end of a tediously long online transaction
scratch disks are full
*amazing* OS file indexing service that slows your computer to a screeching halt
etc, etc

you seem to invest a lot of expectation into your gadgets.
more a psychological problem than hardware / software.

Is it really wrong to have high expectations? What would be world be like if people weren't constantly saying 'good enough'

also i don't agree with this enjoy your technology, appreciate what you have and keep your mouth shut mentality.
new businesses are born every day because of this type of discourse, creating solutions or alternatives to the current offerings, so it should never be discouraged

SteveJobs and letterhead are right. People are always living just ahead of the envelope, resulting in people bitching about how things dont work. This is a 21st century problem. Back in the days of manufacturing, we lived just inside the envelope, resulting in things that were well thought out and 100% useful.
Is it even possible to live inside the envelope when digital technology is the product? Can a startup function inside the envelope and not be left in the dust?
Is it really not ok to bitch about things not working?

- I struggle to understand how you can say DropBox works all the time when it's at the mercy of your router/connection toomonospaced

maybe you're just unlucky, or have a really strong static charge in your clothing. Try wearing natural fabrics.

Funny how people blame the tech before they blame themselves.
All the things you listed work fine for me.
