so on launch day of their new push and ableton 9.. their servers are unable to cope and is down.
you would think a company like ableton would be able to foresee that a lot people are very loyal customers and want their new shit and put more servers online for it. even just for now.
good luck downloading the 50gig extra's

dont get me wrong, Ableton is amazing.. easily one of my most favourite pieces of software.

I've been tempted to take the leap to 9.
Might wait a few weeks to see how it pans out. There's a few other things i'd really like too but I need to sell more stuff on eBay to raise funds haha.
- yeah i would have been the same, but the 9 + Push upgrade have a 100 euro sale on until the 12thautoflavour
- and 100 euro is 100 euroautoflavour
- dat tru! might take a look but still not 100% about push. see below.23kon

Even if I get 9 I dont think i'll get Push straight away as there's a new version of Liine's LiveControl2 on the horizon as well as a new Touch-Able for iPad which will probably both kick the Push's ass in terms of control over Live, drum racks, keys, effects, params etc.
- nah seriously.. i am in the middle of editing a tutorial on Push for Macprovideo.. this shit is next levelautoflavour
- i was on the fence until i played with it the other day. its seriously awesomeautoflavour
- yeah but ipad app can have ongoing dev. a piece of hardware is the same until mkII23kon
- true.. but pressure sensitive pads... also they have just made it so easy.. you dont need to use the computer at allautoflavour
- it really is pretty amazing..autoflavour
- yeah as if an ipad app is going to rival Pushkota
- autoflavour0
money taken.. now i wait
- autoflavour0
i was never really into the APC for the same reason.. ipad killed it..
but the drum sequencing alone on the Push is enough of a reason for me.its weird, i hate spending money on controllers.. i would much rather drop it on synths..
but this.. this is something different.

I'm curious about version 9 features, like turning audio into midi notes. (like the melodyne plugin)
- 23kon0
Audio to midi seems like it could be a great tool, both for getting down "hummed" ideas and also for remixing.

Just remember you cannot get Push without the software!

fuck i am so glad i persevered yesterday, delivery time for Push has jumped from 2-4 weeks yesterday to 12-16 weeks today.
Ableton made some serious fucking bank yesterday

Rule of thumb, if it's not ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY there is no rush to update anything. Let other people beta test it for you, make sure it's safe to move up, there is never a need to have the latest of anything the second it comes out. And if you happen to get it right away then you need to understand that unexpected problems are part of the equation.
I'm not blaming anything on you or anyone here, that's just my personal take. One time I bought a macbook pro the week it came out, and I learned my lesson.
I'm sure whatever it is, will get fixed soon. I feel for developers man, I could not do what they do, everyone always expects your shit to be top-notch and there is zero tolerance for mistakes or bugs. Plus, once you complete a project you are tied to it for life man... F THAT!
- pretty much man...it's a harder gig than people really knowsublocked
- I'm sure it is man, and don't get me wrong, I also get pissed when something doesn't work, but I would hate to be on the other sideMiguex
- other side of the line, specially on such a successful project, can you imagine how many people are complaining right now?Miguex
- now?Miguex
- autoflavour0
yeah i am not sure i get your point Miguex?
i was more commenting on their unpreparedness for the amount of people wanting their products and issues with their servers crashing constantly. I think you may have misread/not read the whole thread.
A friend of mine Noah Pred has been beta testing for live 9 and Push months now, and the last version he has had of both the Push and the Live 9 he said have been pretty much rock solid compared to earlier beta's
for me the desire to have it early was i dont really have the money, so the 100 euro discount means a lot.. i know its only like $130 USD.. but for me, its a lot.
also, to be honest.. its pretty fucking cool device.
i dont think i could be waiting 12-16 weeks for one .. i would go mad
- nah, I read good.
I'm not sure of my point either, pay no attention to me! :)Miguex - LOLZ

and yep, i havent even installed 9 yet.. too busy still editing the Push tutorial i am working on..
once that is finished, i will install 9 along side version 8..
so if its lame duck, i will wait for updates.. or until the push gets here..
