Real close to getting this thing.
Love the size.
Lens adapters are a big plus.
The image quality supposedly rivals the Mark iii. Close is good enough for me.
The only thing I wish it had was 60fps. Are there any cameras that come close in quality/price with 60fps?

- Nice! Gonna check this thing out now.grafiske
- nex 7 focuses faster. Fuji wins on everything else.craigatkinson
- nex has the fold out screen - killer app for me.hans_glib

Fuji is replacing the X100 with the X100s, which has 60fps. I'd assume the next generation of X-E1 will have it.

Any idea when that comes out?

I want either - they both sound and look phenomenal for digital SLR cams.

The X100S is great - although I'd love to be able to switch lenses. Especially use an adapter.
Anyone have ANY idea when the next generation of the XE-1 might come out?

The X-E1 wins in still images, but the Sony Nex-6 has a better price. There's a current deal on the Nex 6 http://www.buydig.com/shop/produ…
- Sony's "propietary" software is always a deal breaker with me.robotron3k
- Wow dynamic range in the fuji is pretty incredible. The nex is no slouch at all but it's clearly better.Hombre_Lobo

I still would suggest buying a GH2 and hack the firmware, very simple to do and you can have video on par with a Red video camera. GH2 are around $500 and compare well with Sony, but are actually ideal for video. here is an example
- Yeh if your main purpose is video the gh2 can't be beat, unless you want to spend like 3000+Hombre_Lobo

X-e2 will be a year away.
I have the XE1 and three lenses, sold everything else. The 35mm 1.4 is amazing and really I don't like putting the other two (excellent) lenses on it because I know the IQ wont be the same, even though it is still outstanding. EVF is great. Two things that bug me. AF speed is good but not great. IQ is great and in some cases does rival the 5D3 as you'll have seen online.
RAW files are ok in Adobe but there's work to be done, and I think they are working on it. The jpegs are fantastic anyway though so there's little need for RAW most of the time.
Lovely camera, feels great shooting with it, handles well, menu is good...

Adobe Lightroom 4.4 RC is supposed to fix much of the watercolor raw issues. Anyone play with this yet?

i have the x-pro 1. it's killer.
and no, these things aren't for video. gtfo with that rubbish.

I have a lumix gx1.
Not a complaint.
Different strokes for different folks/QBNrs...
; )
- all lumix are praise worthy.robotron3k
- I have the GF1 and am still still loving it - but was tempted by this GX1 tooholykel

Olympus vs. Z-E1...?
Both look great. I was looking at the Fuji X-Pro, but it cost so much more than the Olympus. The XE-1 looks about the same price, though.
Is everyone using these as a primary camera, or an additional one to their DSLR?
- HijoDMaite0
ok so since we're talking about these kinds of cameras. what's up with Leica? Is there one out there that is super nice but not the $$$ of the M9?
- HijoDMaite0
why doesn't it seem like pros get commissioned work with these cameras? Everything seems to be Canon or Nikon DSLRs
- I know one wedding photog that is using his X-E1 to shoot withformed
- his clients must be a little hesitant when he shows up with that tiny thing!HijoDMaite
- You would think, but it looks professional with the lens, just tiny.formed
- robotron3k0
- also, once someone writes a firmware hack, this little camera could have more possibilities of control.robotron3k
- ya default control is an issue. not very quick to get around it. not as sharp as I would like it to be. I returned it.pango
- otherwise the stats are amazing.pango
- that is one big hand btwpango
- yeh man that rx100 actually is a game changer. Rather than marketing bs.Hombre_Lobo

Not a fan of the tiny m43 sensor - otherwise I would have got the OMD.
- holykel0
Nah go all out and go for the RX-1:
- craigatkinson0
The OMD shots are too digital looking - sounds odd I know. AF speed is amazing but the build of the camera isn't great, too small, squidgy buttons and hard to hold for a long time. The RX100 is a nice camera - excellent IQ and large prints. It handles like a dog though. V slow start up and shut down, slow zoom and NO grip at all. It is the best compact available overall though I think. I sold mine, and my ricoh for the xe1. No comparison in terms of IQ or handling. The ricoh grd4 is still the best UI I have ever used.
