Heading there in early May. Meeting my wife in Donostia / San Sebastián and going from there with a rental car. We are flying out of Madrid, so that will be the end point.

Here's what we're thinking:
• San Sebastián (daytrip to Bilbao)
• Costa Brava
• Barcelona
• Granada
• Malaga
• Seville
• MadridAre we missing anything, or something that's a must see/do? Is this to much to try and cover in 10 days? Thanks!

That sounds pretty good. On your way to Barcelona I'd make a stop at Montserrat to see the monastery.

you should visit the Mezquita in Córdoba if your near granada/seville.
I'm not sure about malaga, costa brava as I have bad impressions of them being tourist traps. I've never been there so I could be wrong.

I used to live in Andalucia and, in your shoes, would prefer to spend more time in Bilbao than Malaga. Nothing wrong with the old part of Malaga.. just that there's more in Bilbao.
Love that city. In fact, all of Bilabo - the coastal route between Bilbao and San Sebastian is beautiful - one of my favouyrite places in all Spain.

If you can, take a drive down past Gibraltar and Algeciras and have lunch near Tarifa somewhere, looking across the Straits to Africa, which looms large on the near horizon.
Not a lot by way of cultural excursions down there, but the scenery can be quite nice.
- Just 'if you can' - i'd hate for you to wend your way down there and be stumped by the lack of things to do.detritus

Two days Donosti/Bilbo, two days Barna, two days Madrid, Costa Brava (better with someone who knows), and Sevilla one day and a half...like detritus said, you can jump Málaga and his fritos.
If OBBTKN isn't working in his Ossa, perhaps you can see him, ;-PAlthough thanks to the level of corruption and bastards who govern us, perhaps when you come this will be a banana republic.

for an authentic experience, get pickpocketed in barcelona

seriously though.
I have been everywhere in Europe (except for sweden) and Spain is my favourite place. I love the food, wine, the people, the hippies, the old ladies the coffee, the frantic goingnowhereness, the architecture, the trains, the vibe.
I have been there so many times. I was in Valencia only a few weeks ago, which was great (bit like a small, eldery and posh barcelona)

This is a lot to cover in 10 days. I've been to Granada and Valencia in the past few years, both were great and well worth a visit.

I agree, that's a lot for 10 days. I've followed a similar route, though starting in Seville, over 2 weeks. I wish I had spent more time everywhere. I'd spend the majority of your time in Barcelona, Granada and Seville. Yes, book the Alhambra in advance. On the way to Seville, make sure to drive through Rhonda and check out their amazing bridge. The Reales Alcazares in Seville is worth a visit.

Yeah, it's looking like we might shorten it up and relax a bit. Looks good on paper, but I don't want to be completely on the run, trying to do everything.
- yeah, as it is, it would be an endurance test...********
- Don't do just cities. Pick some small rural places.********

Balearic Islands. That would be my #1. Possibly #1 in Europe with someone romantic.
Take a quick flight from Barcelona, stay at least 2 days, rent car and drive the coast, stay in a little coastal town. Experience the Mediterranean like James Bond would.

Trip booked. Thanks for all the suggestions, they were all taken into consideration and I think we've got a stellar lineup.
2 days in San Sebastien > Train >
2 days in Barcelona > Train >
4 days in Andalucia (Lake Vinuela) with car > Train>
2 days in Madrid > then depart- google "barcelona site:qbn.com" there are plenty of threads with suggestions where to eat, party and stuffshaft
