I've been looking for some paint software that can 'play-back' the entirety of a drawing, and ideally output it as either an image sequence or movie. Kind of like the 'rewind' undo feature in Paper, but right from the beginning.
I want to use it for a motion-graphics project I'm working on that needs drawings to be 'drawn'. The drawings are much more complex then simple line work.
I'm of course aware of the 'write-on' feature in AE, but drawing in AE sucks, and you can never see things in context.
anyone?

Only 24 frames a second, maybe less depending on how you want it to look... just save a lot

Did you try checking available iPad apps that can record, and playback your drawings as animation? I've seen other software out that can encompass this.

If you're good with programming, you can just program this yourself.

I've never tried, but I wonder if you can record your brush strokes with Illustrator actions, and play them back in the end.

The major iPad apps do this from what I've seen.
Corel Painter does it too IIRC
