For some reason, on my 35th this past year, I started tripping out on how much time is left. I'd never done that before, just did what ever, even if it was bad for me.. Live what I just did and I'm 70. So I quit smoking on my birthday and started for a better healthy lifestyle. It's been about 8 months and it's given me a little sanity.

Work hard and have fun...don't take forever to make descisions and try to live without regret....cause it all goes MUCH quicker than you think it does.

It's been said that people under about age 37 or so see themselves as "temporarily immortal"

I just turned 38. I'm not in 'pristine' shape. So last Feb I lost like 25lbs over a month of very calculated eating habits; bad? probably. It eventually caused my chest muscles to freak out and I was waking up at 3am with chest pains with every breath that were 'heartattack-like' - never had anything like that before. So I go to the emergency at 3am and they run a battery of x-rays and the doc comes in and says good news chap, not a heart attack but btw you have scoliosis that's "not insignificant". 'and it is what it is, if it hasn't been a problem for you for the last 30 years so you're prob good to go'. Welcome to your 30's. The end.

getting old sucks, I shook my hair dry when I got out of the shower this morning and I got a massive crick in my neck. Now I can barley move my head from side to side.

Seems like a disproportionate chunk of life is spent "being old." Once you hit adulthood, you've got your 20s, 30s, early 40s maybe...and then another 40-50 years of being middle aged, old, and near death.

Thanks for posting this.
I really got a lot out of this article, on what seems like a day rife with the themes spoken about.I needed this right now.

that and having more than 2 pints of good beer at night gives me a hangover.

seems like as long as you don't let yourself fall into some kind of rut and give up on life it doesn't really matter. just keep trying new things and you'll never lose that sense of discovery or find life uninteresting
at least that's my plan anyway

Life begins at 40.
I never really understood what that meant, until I turned 40, then I was like "oh, now I get it".

I'm 35 and I still do drugs and party as if I'm 18.. I've had multiple breaks and surgeries due to snowboarding (i have metal in both my legs) - yet I ride harder than ever! To me, getting older just means having more $$ to do all the fun things that I want to do.. really it is just a state of mind - and I don't want to grow old! You know what ages a man's mind? - Getting married and having kids - that will make you very fucking old! There is no such thing as 'growing up' or being a 'grown up' - we are just like children being born each day into this world - Enjoy the ride and NEVER GROW OLD!!
- Wait 5 years, then you'll feel the pains, trust me.formed

I usually ride with guys that are 48, 50, etc etc they are stronger riders and are probably in better shape than me. I'm 31 so I'm pretty much happy to see that almost at any age you can keep it up. So keep it up!
