Thanks for posting this.
I really got a lot out of this article, on what seems like a day rife with the themes spoken about.I needed this right now.

Seems like a disproportionate chunk of life is spent "being old." Once you hit adulthood, you've got your 20s, 30s, early 40s maybe...and then another 40-50 years of being middle aged, old, and near death.

I just turned 38. I'm not in 'pristine' shape. So last Feb I lost like 25lbs over a month of very calculated eating habits; bad? probably. It eventually caused my chest muscles to freak out and I was waking up at 3am with chest pains with every breath that were 'heartattack-like' - never had anything like that before. So I go to the emergency at 3am and they run a battery of x-rays and the doc comes in and says good news chap, not a heart attack but btw you have scoliosis that's "not insignificant". 'and it is what it is, if it hasn't been a problem for you for the last 30 years so you're prob good to go'. Welcome to your 30's. The end.

It's been said that people under about age 37 or so see themselves as "temporarily immortal"

For some reason, on my 35th this past year, I started tripping out on how much time is left. I'd never done that before, just did what ever, even if it was bad for me.. Live what I just did and I'm 70. So I quit smoking on my birthday and started for a better healthy lifestyle. It's been about 8 months and it's given me a little sanity.

- Utterly. Feel 20 inside, maybe 28 in some of the bendy outside bits. There's a part of me that I left by the speakers, screamingmikotondria3

Just Starting my 30's (but I'm an old soul). Anyways, my grandmother had always told me : HEALTH is wealth
And it's something I don't think I'll truly understand until I my body starts to really experience the wears and tears that life can bring.- couple more years, then baam!prophetone
- Yup, a few more years and you'll understandformed

Due to advances in medicine many of us may live to 100 or more.
- I read an article that postulated that the first person to live to over a thousand is alive today. Possible, at least.set

It's all relative. Imagine you're 80. You'd give anything to be 75 again.

You're only old as you actually are.

I just turned 35 in December. Starting to develop some common aches and pains, and my dad said the same things happened to him around the same age. Mostly notice this stuff after snowboarding. The slightest little sprain or tweaked body part takes a bit longer to get back to normal. Lame.

age is a bit different when you were born with a heart condition, had surgery as a kid...told you might not live past your teens or twenties...... then, in your 30's at the doctor... told your EKG looks great and you will probably live as long as your grandfathers....
