why did the big Tent let him in as it could scan his voice and know he was lying. it would be like asking sadam if he had a concealed gun, knowing hes lying and letting him meat the president
loved the shimmer on the tents hal tho... that was a nice touch.
everything inside tent was smooth... how did it create the buildings, robots etc and as it had banks and banks of drones inside why didnt it deploy more on the planet?

Well scanning through this page was a mistake - I think I know pretty much the whole plot now.

I'm still confused why he nuked Hal-matrix-deathstar with all the humans on it?

some elements of the movie make me think about:
- Portal
- Half-Life
- Wall-E
- 2001: A Space Odyssey

To me it felt more recycled than an effective homage. Moon was much more effective at exploring the cloning theme because it was character-based and had a sense of humor. Cruise was basically a robot in this movie, they might as well have used a 3D projection instead of hiring him (or a clone :)

Well I absolutely loved the film. I was completely captured by it and enjoyed picking every little bit out of it - all the references to 2001, Matrix, Moon, Star Wars, Cloud Atlas and yes, even Independence Day... [ + countless others ] , the M83 soundtrack, Gmunks graphics etc, I personally think it will stand up as a future classic.
Yes Tom Cruise is, well, Tom Cruise, but I couldn't think of another actor to not give anything to it so to let the knowledge [ not "story" per se ] based visual story play out.
I give it 4.5 stars

^ I did. Did anyone else wonder what the hell all the other thousands of Tom Cruises are going to do now?
- ukit20
Did anyone else notice it was basically a rip off of this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182… with more action? Jospeh Kosinski is a hack.

Leeched. I thought it was ok, but it left me with too many questions. Which I like so I thought I would post them here for discussion.
negatives:
- Hal-9000? Really?
- Morgan Morpheus?
- ID- go to mother ship to detonate bomb. Ugh!
- Where all those humans dead well guess it doesn't matter since Tom thought it would be a good idea to nuke'm all.
- Still trying to grasp teh time travel over-lap thing. The over-all theme of time travel is confusing.(please explain)positive:

Why does he keep taking on these really forgettable roles? The guy can act his ass off, and he ends up in shit like this and Jack Reacher? What the hell happened to the Born on 4th of July and a Few Good Men stuff he was doing?

I know I can't speak for everyone, but I for one welcome any new sci-fi movie and/or story. I'm a total sci-fi geek and there is simply not enough of the genre (in my opinion). Furthermore, Tom Cruise is a pretty good actor, despite his personal shortcomings. He was good in Minority Report and his dramas, so I find it hard to say this film is gonna suck just because he's in it.
My main gripes with what I see in this trailer relate to the vision. It's the future, yes, but that doesn't mean everything is gonna be white. It gets dirty too fast, and wouldn't make a good field suit or a ship. This kind of thing just makes it more unbelievable. Anyway, looking forward to some sci-fi.
- maybe they use selfcleaning white paint in the future?
dasohr - haha, you know what I meanmonospaced
- it's white to show the contrast of the clean future people vs dirty old earth. don't be so logical!monNom

Looks cool, but I'm not really interested in cartoons.
