I know this is a pie in the sky kind of question as the 6D isnt in the wild yet..
but next month I am going to get a new camera.. I was thinking the 6D.. but then at the same time I am thinking maybe i just bite the bullet and throw down on the 5D..
I know the specs blah blah blah.. i guess i am just getting peoples thoughts one you would do..

If it is for video I would seriously look at the panasonic gh2 (gh3 is about to be released). The 'unoffical' upgrade makes it an amazing video camera which is a lot more of a power horse than the canons.
Its good at still but I still prefer shooting with my old film hasselblad.
- not moving system.. have too canon glass that i like..autoflavour
- It is shutterless system so you pretty much can get any lens adapter you need.mugwart

To me, the 6D seems good on paper for video and has 2 serious limitations for pro photography: slow flash sync (1/180) and slow shutter (1/4000).

other factor i am keeping in mind is the resale value of the 6d vs 5dm3..
i was an early adopter of the 7d thru necessity not choice, and for an further $600 i could have got the 5dmk2..
i didnt.. and in the first 6 months the 7d had pretty much halved in price where as the 5d pretty much held solid..
not that i am thinking about selling it.. its just when you buy something, you dont expect it to drop so dramatically in value so quick..

What about the blackmagic camera (if it is ever released?)
http://www.eoshd.com/content/918…It is about 2.5/3K footage so you could probably pull stills from the video - I have heard photographers moving into this method. Personally I'm too old school for that! Photoshop is for grading and dust busting only!
- Comes wit resolve too - so you have a DI suite as well. If I had the dosh I might get this one.mugwart
