I heard Nikon D5100 the best one.
any alternatives at this price range?

Short answer, try it get one and if you hate it you can always sell it...
Waiting for the next best thing is a fools errand in the land of DSLR's....
I have 3 Nikon DSLR's, my backup is a D5100 and it's great.
The only complaint I have is the small number of AF focus points, which is supposed to increase in the D5200. Other than that, megapixels shmegapixels as far as I am concerned... it's high ISO that I make my living off of, as I often photograph jobs in low light without a flash...The D5100 and D7000 have the same sensor, it's quite nice at higher ISO's, better than any other crop-frame sensor I've seen (and the same as a certain Pentax/Sony sensor from what I've heard)....but not quite like a fullframe NIkon D700.
there's a D5200 in the wings... probably Jan 2013 in US...
