Krakow was always a jewel of Polish culture but the last time i was there (2 years ago) it was so touristy it almost felt like one big joke where at any moment you were going to be swarmed with TV cameras because you were on some hidden camera show on how to make a city as unbearable as possible.
Do NOT go to the salt mines unless you are ok with paying for a promo tour where at any given moment they will try to up-sell you (if you want to take pics you have to pay extra!!!) and tell you that this specific area would be perfect for your business meeting (i'm so not kidding here!) or office party.
The only place that still had some charm was neighborhood of Kazimierz, otherwise look around to see what capitalism does to a culture.
