If you had $1,000 to spend on something that would help the quality of your work, productivity, ability to improve the way you work, mental well-being, what would you spend it on?
I'm thinking thinks like:
New home office chair
24" or 27" high quality monitor for photo editing
New camera lens - maybe f2.8 zoom lens or macro lens
Personal training sessions at the gym
A bucket of drugs

My suggestion would be to spend it on a professional organization with pricey annual dues. The networking and professional growth opportunities are significant.

Good call scarabin. I've been wanting to learn more about building wordpress themes and understanding how they work to build one from scratch for a project I'm slowly scoping. Would be nice to take a class on something like that.

I'd probably upgrade my speakers so that my music was better. That or take a chunk out of some credit card debt. One would make the environment better and work more pleasurable, the other would offer more peace of mind.
Actually, I would take that $1,000 and pay someone to help me design me a new website portfolio.
