I don't think you have to graduate from design school to understand what R&D means. An A&R on the other hand has always been a blur to me.

Not sure which school you came out of, but you might have heard of something called "Research & Development", R&D.

honestly a website that helped me reach a level of seniority in my work ethics is www.lemonparty.org, it depends what you're looking for though :)

Lead, don't follow.
Think for yourself.
Question authority.

That's not the question though fade. Inspiration is all around us my man, but I'm asking a more specific question.
I'm not talking about style either, but regardless trends are. They happen. Can you deal with it?
I'm more interested in movements, techno could have been a style so to speak, but back then it was more of an attitude, a trend, it was only until later that it became trendy.

being inspired by new trends is the problem not the solution.

When I landed my first job out of school at BBDO it was 2001. For a electronic music DJ at that time I was inspired by Designers Republic and the techno movement. However I soon learned that I had to fall in line, so I looked to type foundries, paper suppliers, stock websites to be inspired for a more mainstream look/feel/ideas.
What are some of your favorite places to go besides here and fffound?
The techno movement - was it the most recent big trend? (I'm not talking of adding noise to a background or the like, but real new work sans clichés - Experimental Jet Set)
What is the driving force behind new ideas in graphic design? Typography?
Wonderin' out loud after a smoke.
