  i worked at a sign shop out of college for a bit. we made those. they're usually .080 alum and are worth about what he's asking in materials.

  also, every few years they (rd crews) take down the old ones and put up new ones. we'd often get them (the old ones), and would sell them to neighborhood associations, camps, etc - people that wanted signs up on private roads- but didnt care to pay full price for a new one. and, the best sales came from craigslist/ebay.

  not that his is legit... but it could be.

  had a stop sign in my basement in SF, till someone told me if your house burns down and they find that in your house afterwards, homeowners insurance wont cover your burnt house. not sure if its true but I got rid of it for that reason.

  I worked on Alien Vs Predator Requiem. We had security everywhere protecting those classic alien costumes and predator costumes. Some high school kid managed to sneak onto the wardrobe truck steal and steal a suit. He goes home, takes a picture of himself in his bedroom holding up the suit (smart enough to hide his face) the police called him posing as a customer and busted him when he delivered the suit. I have a feeling if it had skip using craigslist and went to some comic con or alien forum and posted it, he would have sold it right away and got away with it
