I think before Apple starts suing companies for use of a logo, they should consult an art professional not just art illiterate lawyers.
We wouldn't want people to mistake iphones for edible fruit because they could choke.

due to the way trademark law is structured you must be seen to be defending your trademark. this is even more important for companies using common words as a trademark. non defence in some countries can eventually lead to loss of a trademark.
Apple and other large companies therefore sue companies in various countries to uphold their trademarks and not necessarily because they want to kill other companies.

Amicus, Apple is a worldwide company they don't really need to prove they are still trading in your country by 'defending' their trademark.

No, afaik Amicus is right - if you don't challenge your intellectual rights in many markets then that can be taken into account in nehgative terms during later attempts to do so.
The thinking being that you could otherwise abuse the position by ransoming or entrapping companies, essentially.
