they are fun, but as first synth kind of thing, they probably a bit more of a gimmick..
they are cool definitely..

and not worth the price i assume?
something i could do with just some software?
if so what software?
- autoflavour0
no, its definitely worth the price.. and what it does, nothing else does..
its pretty unique..i guess my point was if you are looking to buy some hardware, the OP-1 is the kind of thing you buy when you already have a few other synths and you are looking for something new and kooky..
its definitely cool.. but i would suggest looking at DSI Mopho or even a Waldorf Blofeld first..
depends of course what you wanting to make tho...

Ah ok
Good suggestion
Will look in to it

he sums it up perfectly at the end. do you need one? likely not. do you want one? hell yes.

I revisit the idea of buying one of these often - such an attractive gadget. Though not really into the sounds it makes. At least not from what I've heard.

I don't know about this thing. I think it could work as a performance tool for someone that didn't want to haul out a laptop, but aside from that, I find it pretty underwhelming.
Get a used MFB-503 and a Mono Lancet or something.

Haven't been able to warrant buying one of these as I only sold all my elektron gear a couple years back to buy studio outboard, and I barely use any of my hardware anyways but as prophet mentioned before these are going cheap on eBay (around £450)... also just got the newsletter with these new accessories...
