Yeap - I thought so...
A friend had problems with his MBP after upgrading, but I think he was using dodgy ram... I will up it to 16. is a 2011 model with 4gb O_o

definitely dont get apple to do it.. and yep, definitely worth it..
i maxed out my 2011 i7 mbp and it was a noticeable difference in render times..

if you have a non retina then just buy it off of crucial and install it yourself. even apple itself has a guide on doing it. I put 8gb into my thunderbolt mbp the day I received it.
If you're getting a new mbp retina then apple has to do it for you

no, do it yourself. If it's a Macbook Pro Retina you've no choice but to get apple to install it to 16gb

I am considering upgrading the MBP
Is it really worth paying apple for doing that?
