Hi All,
Just wanted to follow up with my experience in Annapolis / Baltimore last weekend!
I didn't get to do much touristy stuff as our trip was pretty well booked, but we did manage to catch a few locales.
Baltimore
We went there friday night right as the Orioles game was getting out (talk about traffic!) and met a friend in Fell's point at Max's Tavern. Parking was a nightmare around fell's point but eventually we secured a spot about 4 blocks east of Max's and footed it. We then met some friends at Max's, had a drink there (Brewers Art Resurrection) and because of the noise level (we were screaming just to talk to eachother) ended up going a few blocks east to another bar (John's?). Anyway, the atmosphere was a lot quieter and was still able to get some local stuff on draft: Green Flash IPA and Heavy Seas Loose Cannon. Both were excellent!Annapolis
Went to dinner at Mike's Crab House and had soft-shell sea crab and appetizers. The food was very good, if not messy. The wedding we went to was in Grasonville at the Chesapeke Bay Nature Consverancy / Wildfowl refuge. What a gem! You drive about a mile down a dirt road to get to the conservancy and then the wedding was right in a smallish building. Was a very intimate setting with excellent catered food.
The last day we spent at a relatives who lives in Annapolis. They have about 30 acres and with two historic structures on the property. Part of the house was built in 1827 and has additions to it, although it's not officially on the historic preservation registry. They also had a tobacco barn which was on a preservation registry. The house, barn and property struck me as very old and quaint.
All in all it was a good, if not very hectic, trip (travelling with a 1 yr old!).
