Has anyone else had a housing that leaked?

Customer service was not very cool in insinuating it was my fault. Only had cam for six months. Does anyone know of better solution to GoPro?

I work with a lot of people that go through gopro's like paris hilton goes through d*cks, and they all love them. I only had one and I used it underwater a couple times w no problem and I had mine for nearly a year.

Water housing is a sensitive thing, you must leave it closed even when not in use, because if something like dirt or even hair comes near the rubber, theres a chance that this can help water to leak the next time you use it, but this applies to any photo housing.

I have read about this before I got mine, so I always kept it closed.

On the other hand, it could've been just bad luck and the case was defective, in which case I recommend you try again w customer service (try over the phone and skip the first person that talks to you and ask to speak to a manager) I've heard their customer support is even better than their products, and if it only been 6 months they should give you some sort of warranty.

    Good luck man!

I'm not sure if that's on the instructions or not to be honest, I read about this on some blog way before than the gopros existed, and that kinda kept on my mind for some reason, not sure if that is the reason I didn't have problems w the housing, but that's what I've been doing.

You could try wiping the rubber to clean it a bit, but my guess now it's too late huh? if something tiny like a little stone (the ones that you might drag to your house on your shoe for example) gets caught on the rubber, that can create some sort of dent, that lets water flow and it's already ruined.

yeah too late - soaked. I hope they are cool about it. But I will make sure that I highlight the copy, or make a point about handling for scuba use.

havent had it leak yet but every time i take it in the water im really careful as pretty much anything on that little white gasket can break the seal. + seals will harden up after time then their useless, what ive leaned in my scuba equipment specialist class is put a small layer of fresh silicone on your seals and try not to keep your case closed all the time as it will compress your seal permanently after time.
