  It's basically the same as a slider...then when clicked a hidden div is revealed for that image.

  I don't know anything about coding, but...

  Couldn't that just be a large background image, and the rectangle is a large transparent gif?... or some empty space that allows the BG image to show through?

  The middle part (below header and above caption) is a vertically repeating gif with a white bar on each side and transparent area in the center.
