Anyone have one of those laptops? Thinking about getting one, just no experience with them.
My macbook is a fucking disaster and Im very close to putting it in the microwave. It disconnects from my router constantly, disc drive wont suck in disks anymore. It's a complete piece of shit and I need to get back to PCs asap.
Ive heard some good things about XPSs.

The Inspiron laptops are garbage, but the XPS ones are pretty decent.
XPS based on personal experience (2 years), Inspiron based on buying two as gifts and watching them fall about in less than a year. They both failed in a similar fashion that I am certain it's construction over use/abuse.

With Dells I find the quality varies from model to model, not range of models to range of models. The sturdiest laptop I've ever had was an Inspiron 6400 (ran like new for 5 years until stolen), but the 15XX series were built like crap.
The most recent range of XPS is meant to be very good (can't vouch though). The XPS' from the time of the Inspiron 1545 I know have mobo issues, but you're after high-spec anyway.
Go for a high spec Lenovo, Toshiba Portege or Dell XPS, unless you fancy spending stupid amounts for the Vaio Zs...
