Why not put together a video showreel instead of a flipbook full of stills. Something that's really going to grab people's attention.
Or even choose some places that you'd REALLY like to work and make a specific kickass showreel tailored for them. Something that's going to make them go "Shit, this guy's GOOOOD! We gotta get him in here".

for some it was too much just to read my whining...oh well, what can you do, I had to relieve myself...

don't be afraid/too proud to ask for help.
i can't help directly, but i wish you the best of luck.(my gf recently made a similar request on facebook and was inundated with support and possible leads. stay positive...)
- btw, she's also trying very hard to stay in town so she doesn't have to go back home and /or ask her family for support any longer...sine
- ... longer. she's worked really hard at interviews, being rejected, the ups/downs of job-hunting but it seems to finally be paying off...sine
- ... be paying off. she's moving in with me next month and something's bound to happen for her soon.sine
- The most valuable thing I learned this year is not to be afraid to ask for help as well. :)pango
- and when I do, people find it boring to read :)loool
- if they find it boring, make it less boring =) SELL SELL SELLzarkonite

1) you did a master at KASK, that's your network right there, contact your tutors, other students, secretary, ... and ask for work opportunities, contacts, ideas.
2) contact GridVFX where you did your internship and ask for work opportunities, contacts, ideas.
3) a better presentation of your work won't hurt.

"well I made a pdf presentation because of illustrations that I did...thought about a showreel, but illustrations didn't fit in..."
Better having a video showreel with video + 3D work being showcased at it's best with some still illustrations possibly thrown in as a slideshow than having a Flipbook showcasing video work at it's worst (still and flat)!
- you are definitely right about the showreel part...but I am not sure about the slideshowloool

create a motion showreel
i heard of a gig couple of days ago, permanent, in amsterdam, but cant tell what your motion work is like from stills- if it's urgent it's http://www.dusanlazi…loool
- hmmm, id cut a reelwhereRI
- try n get some more 2d/ae stuff in there, less abstract and more brand specific. even if you make a fake brief for yourselfwhereRI
- i just mean for this gig, they are looking for an all round permanent motion guywhereRI

Might be worth putting some safer, boring, more commercial work in there too if you're getting a bit desperate.
- portfolio not commercial enough?loool
- Yeah a lot of it's a bit abstract, not every company is Zeitgeist or Universal Everythinganimatedgif

well, a day after I whined in here and sent a bunch of job enquiry emails with portfolio...the owner of the company where I interned called me on the phone, asking me to come and work full time...however couple of companies emailed me and asked me to come and work...some of them are pretty nice with their offerings...it seems that whining here was my lucky charm, and I would like to thank anyone who made the effort to read my bitching thread...I will go on Friday to the company and see if I can start, and I have couple of companies on hold because of these guys...so wish me luck on Friday!!!

awwwww.. a happy ending..
usually for QBN it just ends in tears.. or at the very least, drink alone in a bar full over elderly alcoholics

too much to read
- orrinward20
Can't be bothered to read the whole thread.
My advice is to go and whine on QBN and hope that a few companies call you back and maybe go work for a company that you interned for.
If you receive more than one offer, don't take multiple jobs, keep some on their toes while you try and get your ideal one sorted.
Not sure this is any help as I've definitely not read the thread.- read this then:
