Yes Pango, personally I probably would have gone for close up features, maybe abstract, things for cylist, forearm for shotput feer for runner etc. etc. alternatively I would have just gone for a face shot.
Again it's just a shame they had fuck all time to rattle these things off and it would appear they didn't really get any chance to do any post work on the images either.
- thighs for cyclistchossy
- and feet for runner! gosh my typing has deserted me today.chossy
- No time for post ? no deadline is that important.mikotondria3

Not sure if these were done purely for Adidas or not, but they're pretty sweet.

This is odd.... maybe a symptom of publications laying off wise photo editors, as usually when a "red carpet celebrity papparazzi who doesn't know lighting" is assigned to do something like this, somebody smart hires a veteran production team, smart sylists, art directors, MUA's and at least 2 very experienced lighting tech assistants...
I've been one of those people on one of those teams when I was a photo assistant years ago.... there's a weird vibe where the assistants know they are doing the so-called "photographer" a fucking huge favor, rescuing him from embarrassment....
- Please do remember this was a quick ad hoc photo shoot it was by no means profesional.chossy
- obviously.... quick, ad-hoc shoot and by no means professional is a good way of putting it!vaxorcist
- Ha I've been there. I'm not super knowledgable in lighting but the photographer I was helping didn't know what he was doing. Couldn't even get the radio sync to work.pango

OK, are these the OFFICIAL photos of the athletes that will be used for the Olympics, or are these just a collection of photos that one person took? Why did these photos make it out onto the web?

us? looks about right.

Wouldn't taking their photo against a white background with good lighting, then dropping a variety of thematic background images behind them in PS been a better idea? Seems like someone could have already had the imagery created even before the photo shoot.
- have done that a LOT... note that you have to see the background BEFORE you light the person...vaxorcist

How the fuck did he/she manage to make world class athletes look like rabies ravaged drug addicts?

- Good stuff. They both look their best and you captured real emotion. 100 times better than the olympic shots.inteliboy
- They won't win gold though.orrinward2
- Thanks! The Olympic photos show a real lack of knowledge, it's beyond laziness! I do 400 of these in a night...slappy
- slappy you're right... the issue here is that a "celeb papparazzi" got hired, not a workingman real photographer... like you(!)vaxorcist

Thats pretty awful. You can tell they didn't like their job, no attention to detail, poor craft. Reminds me of that Draplin design video about how american design is dead because they redid some motel sign in Blippo bold.
