@bored2death you can download the SDK for free and develop using the simulator, if you want to test on a real device or submit to the store you need the developer suscription ($99 a year).
Pre-Lion, it's on your Install DVD.
Lion and onwards it's free on the App Store

Does anyone have any names of decent pc based iOS developer software.
People use Mono Touch to write ios apps in C#. Personally, I'd never go that route. XCode and Objective-C is really great to work with.
I used Titanium(http://www.appcelerator... for a basic little app that ported onto iOS and Android pretty well.
