  I'm trying to place the red flag in the corner. But when I do that it pushes all the other div over.
  How would I have the red flag in the corner without it pushing the other divs over?

  Instead of float:right, use this:

  position:fixed;
  top:0;
  right:0;

  I would also make your background:
  background: url(images/bg.jpg) center top;

  And put all your css into a file, of course.
