There are tales that cannot be told digitally.

Not sure I'll bother with Raised By Wolves s2 after that finale.
- I'm midway through the finale now. I've been mostly interested by the story but can easily see the wheels coming off.MondoMorphic
- omfg, the wheels came off in the first episode with the crusaders vs atheists crapmonospaced
- I need to watch the last episode again. Felt really pissed off the other day by that ending.Ianbolton
- Scott's lost it. I should have known better after Prometheus and Covenant.i_monk
- Similar to Devs: more fiction and less science towards the enddrgs
- Well, I enjoyed it.DRIFTMONKEY
- The show is stupid and tries too hard.cannonball1978

Sooo many questions; not like it was a well-orchestrated mystery but like none of it made sense and now it's all WTF was that?MondoMorphic

Anyone watching or finished the 100?
Started it last week, on season 3 now, started off as a low budget firefly like show, terrible effects, terrible acting, terrible costumes, but there was something in the moral dilemmas and tough choices that they had to make that sort of kept it interesting.
season 3 feels much better production-wise but now it feels like game of T̶h̶r̶o̶n̶e̶s̶ 100
I hear season 4 and 5 are great so i might just plough through.
- Let me know when finished... because I tried I REALLY tried. Could not push through season 1 because all the main points you made above.Ramanisky2
- Watched the last episode the other day, it was alright. Went on a bit, but I needed to see it through.PhanLo
- Gave up on it in season 5 or 6.i_monk
- I started it, loved it, then later felt like i was watching a show for teens and dropped it. I actually thought the costumes were the best partscarabin
- ^ teen drama/romance vibes for sure. I started watching it with my teen daughter. It got better later onGnash

- Gagarin goes up a hiant, or returns from space a giant? If the former, that would be a bit daft, given the implications of the rocket equationNairn
- Two Gagarins return from space, the original and a giant one, aliens make a giant copydrgs
- Ooh. Then yes.Nairn
- i like it. i will feel sorry for the guy's wife who now has to handle both of them.sarahfailin

Oh, and for weird, ridiculous and nonsensical (but very entertaining and original), check out "The OA".
Not for everyone.

I enjoy Tales From The Loop, still I can't help feeling the series are a lot of style over substance. The whole Stålenhag aestetic (which i absolutely adore otherwise) seems tacked on, inconsequential to the stories. A lot of gorgeous visuals, slightly dull storytelling, all slathered in well-composed melancholic music. I'll finish it, probably enjoy it, but probably forget all about it.
For fans of Stålenhag, have a look. Otherwise, i suggest checking out "Devs". Bit of a similar vibe, but with an interesting story.
- Devs is great. Tales from the Loop had a flavour of 'Dark' which i also think is awesome.Morning_star
- Loved Dark.
2 episodes from finishing Devs.
Struggled with Tales From the Loop, less of a binge than the other two...Bluejam - Also, Devs is 8 episodes total. Love miniseries.jagara
- Tales from the loop didn’t quite hit the mark. Felt flat.thumb_screws
- I love Tales from the Loop.Ramanisky2
- I watch this when I have trouble falling asleep.bezoar
- I gave up on Loop after four eps. The one with the time-freezing dildo.i_monk
- Dark added to watchlist :)jagara
- Dark >>> Loopi_monk
- Time dildo episode was pretty good, IMHO :)jagara

Sorry. Last one: Homecoming. Loved it (miniseries, 8 eps.).
- Homecoming, Sci-Fi ??Ramanisky2
- added to watchlistutopian
- I'm not sure if it's sci fi but I loved both seasons.CyBrainX
- I don’t recall anything sci-fi about itRamanisky2
- True. Maybe it¨s because it gave of slight Black Mirror vibes to me...jagara

- OH MY FUCKING GODmonospaced
- Looks good.
So I have 6+ months to finally get around to reading the Foundation series.Nairn - Definitely read it. I might have to revisit. It is incredibly good.monospaced
- I read those novels four or five times, starting in the 80s. I re-read them each time he put out another book. One even came out after Asimov died.CyBrainX
- i_monk4
- I quite like it, it's defo pretty weird. Some ancient aliens stuff creeping at some point I reckon.PhanLo
- Almost through the first season - started strong but got a little weaker as it progresses - hoping for a solid finaleStatic_Line
- The last 2-3 eps felt like filler that didn't really add anything.i_monk
- What show?_niko
- Raised by WolvesStatic_Line
- I was wondering same after Umbilical epprophetone
- like we need some more alien stuff and a change of scenery, maybe a sandwichprophetone
- Looks ridiculousi_was
- I've tried 3 times to finish the first episodes, I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. I've tried...helloeatbreathedrive
- Myeah. Drags on. Meh. Looks great, occasionally fantastic :)jagara

- For a while he was doing Twitch Art streams, one of which was him making this particular image. Vods are no longer up, but his technique is really nice.face_melter
- He uses 3ds Max and ZBrush for the 3D and kitbashes everything together until it feels right, then does some post on the render.face_melter
- he's has a youtube channel, looks like he's put the vids there: https://www.youtube.…rzu-rzu

The legendary Chinese science fiction trilogy is getting a Netflix seriesBy Nick Statt@nickstatt Sep 1, 2020, 10:41am EDT
- I wonder if they'll keep the terrible dialogue. Could be fun if they did.Nairn

"She like my futuristic sounds in the new spaceship
Futuristic sex, give her Philip K dick"- The Weekend , Snowchild
- Nairn0
- Doubt they could do it justice.i_monk
- Probably not, no - doesn't mean I'd not like to have seen it though.Nairn
- Cross your fingers for Foundation.i_monk
- Thinking about it this since - this should wait until we can generate in VR. Anything to do with AI/Drone inner monologues or communication needs to be *felt*..Nairn
- ..and lived in. I can't see any way to do that usefully in a flat 2d space.
I think I'd rather see a slightly toony, but as-comprehensively verisimilitudinous..Nairn - ..as possible realisation.Nairn
- Also, it's easy to forget when reading (at least for a basicBloke CIS like myself) - most of his characters are visually anything but 'human' as we think now.Nairn
- They're typically modded in ways that would be, i think, hard to do en-masse.Nairn
- i_monk0
The BNW remake seems to have completely missed the point of the book, and ending with a literal mystery box doesn't bode well for the second season now that they exhausted the book material.

Stalling for time before coming into work this morning, I took Andy Weir's 'Artemis' to the shitter to start reading it.
I didn't even finish the first page before thinking "this is going to be total shit, isn't it?" and closing it.
I never read The Martian, but knew enough about it to think it'd be a bit dull and perhaps borderline somewhere on the spectrum in its.. well, totality.
Is it worth bothering with?
- The Martian is great and well worth a read (it's relatively short), even if you've already seen the movie. But Artemis was crap -- definitely don't bother.ridg0026
- haha, that seems like a fairly ringing unendorsement!Nairn
- The Martian is great, Artemis felt written for the screen and will possibly make a better film than book.spl33nidoru
- But Artemis was only his 2nd book, with the pressure of following a bookseller debut. Andy Weir definitely has more great stories in him.spl33nidoru
