I had the GX1 for a short while, with 14mm pancake. Excellent. Just too noisy, big shutter clatter. Not as well built as Ricoh or Fuji X100. If you can handle fixed 35mm or adapted 28mm the x100 is a good price now, £629 at camera world.
Ricoh GXR is also excellent, APSC sensor.

Sony NEX 5N
I absolutely love mine. Have the 16mm Pancake Lens (& Fisheye Adaptor Lens) and the 18-55mm Lens.
I got it a few months back and had some good fun with it. Just returned from a few weeks in Italy and have been astounded by the results from this camera. Some of the effects and features of this camera out-of-the-box are awesome too and have used them a lot.
My dad's got a Canon 5D Mk1 and has been thinking about an upgrade to a Mk2/3 but my mum's not keen as its a biiiig camera and a bit "look at me!" when they are on holidays. He's been very impressed by the 5N and what it can do and the end results. Think i've nearly persuaded him to go for the NEX 7 (he likes to have a viewfinder).
I think in time i'll end up getting one too.
It took me ages to decide on getting the Sony 5N and was considering the GF's/Pen's etc. Sony won for me as a best all-rounder.

I got a second hand GF1 and a 20mm pancake lens. After years of using a point and shoot its got me interested in photography again and I love it. What more can you ask for in a camera?

I have a G1 and I like it - a prime lens is difficult to get used to though.

X100 is an amazing camera - especially if you like real manual controls and 35mm. It's pretty much the only manual style digital camera on the market sans Leica or the X-Pro 1. Has amazing low light, epicly good glass and a nice bright hi-tech viewfinder. I recently upgraded to the xpro1 but keep the x100 around because it's so small and fun to use.
If going m43, I'd go for the OMD. The GF1 also remains as a classic and probably pretty cheap these days, you'll hear nothing but good things about the GF1 and the OMD. The issue with m43 is the micro sensor, so you'll struggle to get shallow DOF unless you buy into expensive voigtlander nokton lenses.
