I sold my A4 last year after out daughter was born and got my wife a new Jetta. I took her civic since I've now got a hell of a commute. She loves the Jetta and it's not all that dissimilar from the A4... not as quick/nimble, but the interior is pretty nice for what we paid and it's got more room in the back for the car seat.
I'm now looking at the Mini Countryman. They can get pretty pricey but I really like the size.

- and for the same money you can get a really nice range rover.sine
- lol. the purchase price is only foreplay for the Range Rover. She'll take half your house by the end of it.monNom
- yeah and soon that range rover is not covered it will break down. FJ is discontinued, might keep up the price.akrok
- Not discontinued. I hear that every year. Best 4x I have ever owned. Range Rover repairs FAR outweigh the payments. Mine sure did.lemmy_k

i just dont see the point of having a suv if you live in l.a. sure its good for big bear, but why not just rent one for that period. most likely you will be driving to work. on asphalt. also whats so fun about pumping that gas just cause you car is over weight.

The thing to understand nowadays is that the era of major car manufacturers producing full fleets of shitboxes is over.

- how are you stealing an image if you make it available online? goal, have others see it. people do. case closed.omg
- owner blocks it. how retarded is that?! allpar.com loses credibility here and shows world how stingy they areomg
- they want to control what people say and discuss. this is how people communicateomg

This is the first time I've leased...always bought cars a couple years old but I get bored after a couple of years so thought I'd try leasing. I don't drive that many miles and I've been told that VW gives you an opportunity to change your mileage 1/2 way through. Worse case scenario is I go over and buy the car out at the end of the lease.
- CincodeMayo0
Nah, leasing is pretty easy if you don't put a ton of miles on your car per year. If I had a huge commute, I'd definitely buy a car or at least lease a hybrid, but my commute is easy and local, no freeways or anything, so low-milage leasing works for me. It's pretty worry-free and I get a new car every 3 years. Can't complain.

Oh, and although the thought of driving either of these car brands scares me, both are getting pretty great reviews. Anyone been in/driven either of these?

@ Cinco I leased a 2012 Eos Lux for $250/mo. I traded in my Audi. It's silver with red (dark...more like wine color) leather interior.

Have you looked at a new VW GTI? For the money, you get an improbably high-class interior.
- CincodeMayo0
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Love the look and interior of the Fiat, just not sure I'd be comfortable in something so small. And the Eos is mighty fine, but the leases are a bit pricey.
@monkeyshine - did you lease a 12 or that 09 model? Also, I haven't had an SUV since 2001, but I test drove the CRV and Tiguan and really liked having the extra room. Both of those get pretty good mpg (especially the CRV). Not looking for an SUV bigger than that.
And while I'm not really a fan of the new Jetta or Passat bodies, I might still end up in one. Those are still some of the best lease deals around, and the 3 years of included maintenance ain't too shabby either.
- CincodeMayo0
Oh, and hatchbacks are totally fine. LOVE the A3 but I'm looking to put down as little as possible, so that's probably out of the question. But the Focus 5-door, the Prius C and the Jetta Sportswagen ain't bad at all.
- FIESTA looks better then FOCUS. i driven both. really don't see the point with FOCUS.akrok
- CincodeMayo0
@_niko I'd love a Tiguan. Pretty much the only VW I like (well I like the Golf too, but they don't offer leather?!). But the lease deals suck on that right now unfortunately. I'd get a little loyalty incentive, but not much.
Looking for something pretty tech savvy, with leather, sunroof, Bluetooth and possibly Nav if it doesn't send the lease payments through the roof. Hearing good things about the new Optima. Anyone been in one of those?
