place is awesome in summer

I'd go to Menorca instead, spent a week last summer there and it's great to disconnect and go to crystal clear beaches.

Yes Ibiza's great, is there any left without chavs / clubs / piss?

Ibiza is a great place to go if you stay away from the night life side of the Island.

Barcelona is a good option, and the good weather just started now. If you come in june you can even go to the Sonar festival for kids http://www.sonarkids.com/en/fest…
- Oops, that's now in May not in june, the festival for adults is in june thoughernexbcn

When I was young my folks used to take myself and wee brother on driving holidays around europe, driving from UK to a destination then staying there for a few weeks then driving home.
One of the best holidays was the south west coast of france at a campsite near Hossegor. Some amazing little surftowns and close to Biarritz (with calmer waves) and a stones throw from Spain and near the the pyrenees where you can do stuff like white water rafting.
The area is very flat so nice for cycles.- Glasgow was ace btw, that cocktail bar you suggestedcraigatkinson
- glad you had a good time! :) wasnt me that suggested cocktail bar tho :P23kon

^ i was gonna recommend Nice too. spent a holiday there with my family when i was younger. rented a self-catering apartment on the beach. we had a car... drove to Monaco for a day trip, did excursions further inland/country... great time.
- I always wonder about parking in Monaco. I would want to go and check it out for a day as wellnumero1
- sad to say, monaco is a dumphansglib
- you park outside the city and walksine
- How come? What was your experience there?numero1
- too hot too expensive very dull. i will give you driving up to the casino tho. that is coolhansglib
- especially if you have the james bond theme blasting out as you arrive.hansglib
- otherwise it's cramped, vulgar and not nearly as interesting as you think it should behansglib
- best seen from the petite corniche as you try to avoid doing a princess grace...hansglib

Barcelona has it everything in Spain. If you want to be adventurous you could drive down the coast line to Valencia. Or the other way around. Nice beaches in between the two cities. And plenty of nice towns.
San Sebastian could be nice as well and the areas around it.

^Barcelona! smaller: Valencia? In Portugal (Atlantic Ocean): Porto? Lisboa?

Looking for somewhere to go, in Europe. Need something for kids, enough to stop us getting bored, a beach / pool / sun / museums / galleries / bookshops. City not country. Not Morocco, probably not Berlin.
Any suggestions?
