  But on a real note, a friend of mine's parents split a few years ago, then his dad (who is like in at least in his 50s) decided he was going to become a woman. Pretty intense shit for him and his 2 brothers to deal with...

  Well he is sure in for a rough life but good for him if it makes him happy. People can do whatever they want within the law. Fact is though so few of them are actually passable for real women and there's always going to be a shit load of people out there that want to torment them. Hope he is ready for that.
