Damn I never saw them live. What an idiot I am.
I remember elementary and junior high was when I use to listen to License To Ill. I could only recognize MCA because he was the one with the raspy voice.
His voice balanced out the group, it will never sound the same.
Later, Check Your Head was the soundtrack to my high school days, I loved it because that was the album they made when they moved out here to California.
And of course Paul's Boutique was the soundtrack to my drug years I could always listen to that album and pick up new samples and lyrics I had missed before.
Sucks, I didn't even know he was that sick.

I can't say I ever consciously listened to Paul's Boutique, but listening now and damn it's great. Check Your Head is my favorite thing of theirs, and I gave Ill Communication a listen last year and found it didn't age well.
I was in high school from 1992 - 1996 and was just massively into them. They were such a great sound in those years, probably the first into to rap that many of us white suburban Texas kids had.
Saw em live a couple of times and just remember totally letting lose at those shows. Seeing them for Ill Communication tour in Dallas was so nuts. We jumped a 12 foot wall to the floor when the lights went down, sprinted through security and got into the fray of the front of the crowd and just lost our minds. That memory rules.
