http://www.mactech.com/articles/… << my paranoia was right on the money.
- found my Folder Actions Setting ON, could have only happened with Dropbox.ohhhhhsnap
- Your paranoia is alive and well.ribit

What are all these photoshop files doing in my dropbox now, it's like they appeared on my computer right before this thread started.. weird...
- mantrakid0
i dont understand what your link ilustrates, @ohhhhsnap...? like why does that prove your paranoia was right?

Your internetz privileges have been revoked.

That Mactech article (which mentions the use of a drop box, not Dropbox) is from 2004. You have a folder called Drop Box in your home > Public folder, for other users to drop stuff into, nothing to do with the Dropbox service.
Dropbox was launched in 2007.

no
- thanks CanHas... phew. I dragged and dropped a file from my desktop but they'd only have access to that 1 file right?ohhhhhsnap
- CanHasQBN0
how are they accessing the files? are you sending them a download link ("copy public link")?
- just dragged and dropped from my computer. no linking involved.ohhhhhsnap
- and they have access to the dropbox by signing in?CanHasQBN
- Yes, they do.ohhhhhsnap
- neight0
They will have access to every file that you have placed in that folder...
...including the nudie pix.
- qoob0
By dragging from desktop, you have likely given them read/write privileges to your machine.
- ohhhhhsnap0
fuck.
i just deleted my account.
can they still access?
- CanHasQBN0
i doubt they ever had access to your computer. it doesn't work that way. are you having a goddamn panic attack?
- ohhhhhsnap0
qoob... why are you messing with me.
and yes CanHas... i was. thanks for chilling me out. i need a shot of tequila, this 6point isn't doing the trick.
- qoob0
Just giving you a friendly scare...like a good horror movie:D
- ohhhhhsnap0
I think the thing that made me a little paranoid was that Photoshop's Cue had kicked in (I never use it) and said that changes were made to a file that I was working on... and 1 file name had been changed.
- ohhhhhsnap0
it's all good now. freak out over. i'm going to bed.

dudes. when you drop a file into the dropbox folder it will be uploaded to db. nobody has access to your machine.
